SUPER DUPER GUIDE TO LIGHT THERAPY
LIGHT THERAPY is a non-invasive treatment for the face that uses a narrow band of LED light energy to trigger your body's natural cell process and aids acceleration to repair and rejuvenation of the skin. For restoring the skins radiance, rejuvenation, sun damage, acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, sensitivity and inflammatory conditions, even wound healing and scarring, LED light is highly recommended!
If you asking what light therapy does.
For every single skin type an LED Light Therapy is amazing. If any area is irritated it calms but also brightens the skin brilliantly.
When used consistently, over time, LED lights are thought to penetrate your skin at different depths and cause various reactions in your skin, such as fighting acne-causing bacteria, plumping skin and reducing wrinkles.
A course of treatments offers corrective and long-lasting results, although you’ll be able to see a difference after the first session. Light therapy is also particularly calming, so you’ll leave feeling really refreshed.
How does Light Therapy work?
Colour wavelengths of visible light are used with LED Light Therapy which all have specific skin benefits. As a result of ageing, skin disorders or trauma, healthy skin cells are compromised and unable to renew themselves normally.
The skin uses the light as a source of energy to fuel the repair and rejuvenation of damaged cells, or, in the case of treating acne, kill bacteria. The energy stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, boosts circulation and accelerates tissue repair. During the treatment, you’ll simply lie underneath a light screen while the equipment does all the work.
We like to use a LED Light in every single facial for which a full session (20 minutes) of LED is applied with a mask full of the most amazing serums and an SPF to finish.
Clients can come along only for LED, as this is an incredible facial on its own.
What skin types should try light therapy?
Light Therapy is extremely good for all skin types, so EVERYONE! but its incredible for ROSACEA!
Can you feel light therapy and does it hurt?
No not at all,,, LED Light Therapy is completely non-invasive and does not hurt. All you'll feel maybe...is a tiny bit of warmth.
Does Light Therapy cause you to tan?
Nope! Light Therapy does not use UV light so there's no risk whatsoever of getting a tan.
What types of light are there and what do they do?
The treatment: Red light For: Inflammation. The low-down: Red light lies next to infrared at the end of the visible part of the light spectrum, and its wavelengths disable inflammation triggers. Inflammation is linked to acne, pigmentation and rosacea, which is why you’ll find this wonder light in most treatments.
The treatment: Yellow light For: Fine lines and wrinkles. The low-down: The Botox of wavelengths, this should be part of your age-maintenance programme. Yellow light reduces redness and wrinkle-causing inflammation while boosting circulation. It works by stimulating the rejuvenation process within your cells to improve the density of your skin (that’s the stuff that drops after the age of 30, causing those fine lines).
The treatment: Green light For: Pigmentation. The low-down: Green light targets dark circles, pigmentation, broken capillaries and sunspots. It also calms irritated or over-stimulated skin.
The treatment: Blue light For: Acne. The low-down: Blue light eliminates acne vulgaris (the bacteria responsible for causing spots), while leaving the good bacteria intact. Blue light can be used on its own but it’s often paired with red light. Red and blue lights have very specific wavelengths and, when used together, kill acne bacteria and help the skin to heal.
